So, this is our last blog ever. Pretty odd. This is also probably the last grade for any high school history classes. Even more odd. I'm excited the years over but also don't want it to be over yet. It really went by too fast and I want these last few days to slow down. I hope we have a great last few classes. Stroud, this year has really been fun. I'm so glad I had you as a teacher, I really enjoyed the class and actually learned something. How weird! You made government something to look forward, and i'll miss ya next year when I have cranky old professors. I'll come visit don't you worry. You are a great teacher and I wish you the best of luck with everything! Thank yaaa vury much

A) My article waaas about a priest in Boston, who is on leave for sexual abuse allegations. The complains and allegations were from children 50 years ago. The archdiocese has counseling and other services for people affected in this situation. He is currently on administrative leave. Long time ago, but still weird.

B) I chose this article because it caught my eye and attention. I think these kind of articles gives priests a bad name and stereotype, although it is happening quite often..

It was well written I suppose, but it did not give me as much information as I thought it would.

I didn't really enjoy it that much, pretty basic and not descriptive. Kind of weirded me out too.

So, this past weekend was pretty busy. I had my 18th birthday on Friday and my grad party on Saturday. Birthday was pretty good, although never really fully enjoy birthdays they are awkward and something bad always happens. I really did enjoy peoples enthusiasm and I realized I have a great friend family support system. Grad party was fun, glad to see everyone came out for it. I shared it with my two best friends Sarah and Steph. Good food, good times. Graduation is soon weeiirrird

A)My article is about the Titans quarterback Vince Young in his alleged assault at a strip club in Dallas, Texas. Apparently Young struck another man in his face after the two got in an argument. The assault charge may be up to $500 dollars. Young has not spoken out about the incident yet.

B)

I chose this article because it was one of the top stories on CNN and it seemed interesting.

I suppose it was well written, seen better seen worse.

I did enjoy this article, it was interesting to read. Although it is disappointing to read of sport starts always getting into trouble. They have such an amazing well paid job and then put themselves in a spot where they can just throw it all away. No good.

Senior Post

Let's see what to talk about. Ok, thank you John Shelton for this idea, my major. So, I decided a little while back that I am majoring in Special Education. I have always been interested in teaching and absolutely love working with kids but had never really thought of special education. But when I went into high school I would work down in the special education room and hang out with the students there and always had a great time and worked well with them. And last summer I went to a camp where I was the counselor for teens with mental disabilities and had such an amazing experience. I understand them and realize they are incredible kids that are so normal just have something that on the outside is making them stand out. Uhhm so yes I feel that the major I have chosen is perfect for me. Yeah it will be hard and needs a lot of patience but I am up for that challenge and ultimately know I will be helping them. Sooo let's see where it takes me in life, maybe a special education teacher or working with kids at camps or I don't even know, endless possibilities.

My article is from cnn.com, and deals with Elizabeth Smart's court case. Elizabeth smart in 2001 was kidnapped from her home by a man Brian David Mitchell. She was gone for

nine months. She was held captive near her house in Salt lake city, Utah with Mitchell and wife, Wanda Barzee. Wanda, on friday

had her court case and was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison. She pleaded guilty to the counts, and at the trial told the Smart family

how sorry she was for her actions. She was also deemed a sex offender.

This is an interesting case, about an interesting person. Wanda some-what sat back and watched her husband kidnap a young girl

and hold her captive for 9 months. I think that years of being with her husband made her some what insane. Although she did not kidnap

Elizabeth, she didn't do anything about it. Really weird. I do believe she is regretful about her actions and highly doubt she will ever do anything

like that again. I remember this case and knew a lot about it so it is interesting to read this. I am glad Elizabeth and her family are doing well though!

May 16 blog part DOS

Well, senior year is winding down and school seems to be dragging on. It seems pretty pointless to go to school because my curriculum is done in 3 of my classes. I definitely have a case of senoritis. I think that teachers with all student classes should not be giving busy work because it just adds on symptoms of our senoritis. Busy work makes us want to skip! We should just order pizza everyday, just kidding but we just shouldn't show up. I am very excited for beautiful weather and summer! Huuuurrry up

A) My article is from cnn.com under the health section. It is 7 habits of highly successful snakers. Basically telling you what you can do to eat healthy and stay healthy, without crash dieting or excessive working out. The seven steps are: fix your own food, eat a balanced snack, snack to maintain weight, keep stress in check, once a month allow yourself more, crave calcium and shun sodium, and drink lots of water. These steps are helping you snack junk-free. There would not be a who or when or where. But this article tells you how to eat healthy, and why? So you can learn to stay healthy. It tells you what to do.

B) I did enjoy this article, it was very interesting and eye opening. It gave me good tips on how to munch on food during the day. At school I always find myself hungry so these are good rules to follow. I chose this article because it seemed beneficial to myself and good to teach others. It was well written, pretty simple writing though.

1) My editorial was in summary about gun control and how it should be more strict. My article as an example talks about how a gun that was used one month ago in the pentagon to shoot two police officers in the pentagon has now been sold to a Georgia gun dealer, which was taken from the Memphis police department during a drug bust. The author of my editorial sees problems with this: that it is absurd to put guns back into circulation and that guns should be destroyed after used for evidence. The author thinks that gun show loophole to require background checks for all purchasers should be closed. They think we should definitely crack down on all illegal gun shows to stop prohibited purchasers from buying and shooting again.
2) I think this is an interesting article, and I do agree that we should crack down on illegal gun shows, because the criminals who cannot legally buy guns can do so in a gun show with no background checks. Guns used prior by criminals taken by police for evidence should be taken and destroyed after evidence, so we can lower the number of guns out there.

1) My editorial is about how Maryland is in desperate need of updating their child support. The last time they updated it was 1988. The author goes on saying, in 1988 gas was only a $1.08 and houses were merely 100,000. So obviously times have changed and so should their child support. He thinks we should focus more on the childrens needs. There is a bill that would bring the guidelines in lines with todays economy. This week it was overwhelmingly passed, and they are to vote again on friday. The author wants committee members to keep this article in mind when they vote.

2) I agree with what the author says. The author makes some valid points. Times have changed, espcially money/values of things, so Maryland indeed needs to update their child support.

1) the summary of my editoral is that we expect too much from our presidents. We were expecting so much from Obama with all the rage before he was sworn into office. But now that he is president, the author says, our lives have not changed. He thinks it wouldnt make a difference if Mccain or Obama was president. He says we need a miracle worker as president, and no person is going to do that for us, that we should not have that kind of faith in the president.
2) I do not really agree with this article, it obviously would make a huge difference if our president was somebody else. I think the author is too negative on the pres. Obviously the president cannot 'walk on water' but he can do a lot. We should give him some credit for what he has done.

Blog February 26!

1)My editorial was about the summary of the health care summit that took place on Feb 26. But the editorial does not go into much detail of it because the author 'did not watch a single minute of of and does not regret it at all.' He said he would rather watch Tiger Woods apologizing for three hours than watch it. He goes on talking about how he commends Susan Page for the detailed analysis and basically does not care for Obama or the bill.
2) Well seeing that I did not watch the health care summit, I cannot agree or disagree about his opinion of the boringness of it. I think that he is a little harsh on what Obama said and what he has been doing. We are in need of a new health care system and health care summits are necessary for the process. Although the article was kind of funny, it was a little too much for my liking.

February 19 bloooooooooooooog

1) My editorial was about the repealing of Virginia's gun control law of not being able to buy more than one gun a month. The author of my editorial thinks it is about time because she feels that a one gun a month policy is not going to lower crime rate and it it an inconvienience to law abiding citizens. She feels that gun limitations can be harmful and it can raise the number of law abiding citizens to having to buy guns from criminals illegally.
2) I thought this editorial was very interesting and the author did make good points. Gun control although sounds good, can actually do more harm than good. She made some pretty solid points that gun control and other waiting periods for guns can increase crime. I think this article is good to take a closer look at because after all it is our safety at stake! :)

JAN 15. Personal Entry

So, for my personal entry I would like to talk about the recent earthquake in Haiti. Altough it does not effect the people of our country, I think we should do whatever we can to help them in their time of need. If we have old clothes we do not use or any supplies we think would benefit them, we should definitely send them. They would appreciate any support they could get. This earthquake has killed many many people, and it destroyed what little they had before the disaster. We should keep them in our thoughts and prayers during this time.

3) this cartoon deals with the earthquake in Haiti

4) The cartoons message is saying that there are so many charities towards helping the people of Haiti, but many of them are phony. They say they are helping Haiti but really your charity may be going some place totally irrelevant.

5) I would have to agree with the message. Altough we are trying so hard to help the people, i think some of the charities are a tad phony and not actually helping.

Jan 8 Week numbaaaa 5

So, all in all I think Obama will have a good year, of course there will be ups and downs but I think everything will turn out OK. I feel as if we are headed in the right direction, our economic downturn is not quite over but were working on it and it is improving. The unemployment rates are not as low and people are finding jobs easier. I do not know about the situation over seas since Obama sent more troops, and it is too early to say if it worked out for the better or not. Hopefully it will. Obama is doing a good job and surprisingly the new health care plan is almost taken action and is being dealt with more than we thought! I think it will be a good year.

3) This issue is dealing with the idea of the recently loved democrats crashing and no longer being the high group. This could be because of the presidency and decisions he has made.

4) The message is compared to a scene from the movie Titanic. It is saying that '08s democrats who were doing well are soon going to crash into an iceberg in this new year.

5) I would like to disagree with this message and have some hope for the Democrats but it could quite possibly be how things turn out. It happens.
